As creative activism is our motto, we resort to totally innovative ways to approach a problem — street plays, festivals reimagined, puppet theatre. Here are the campaigns we have handled so far.
River Tapi was being polluted every year by Plaster of Paris idols immersed during Ganesh Utsav. Awareness was absent, authorities were reluctant because of religious sentiment, and nobody had a workable idea for change.
We took on the project of bringing that awareness — and approached it through theatre rather than protest.
First of its kind in India. To save the trees cut down for Holi, we motivate the community to light a symbolic lamp powered by solar energy instead of burning huge piles of wood.
In 2013 the message was taken very well, and there was a visible difference in the way Holi was celebrated — less wood, and a turn towards eco-friendly alternatives.
A puppet show that wraps today’s environmental crisis inside a conversation between wild animals, and between a man and a donkey. The man, blinded by technology, has forgotten that Nature is the source of everything he claims to have made.
The donkey tells him a story of the jungle, shows him the results of his “growth”, and makes him see what the mad race is doing to his own children.
